THE FULLNESS OF OUR LORD'S PLAN FOR REPARATION FOR BLASPHEMY AND THE PROFANATION OF SUNDAY

Just as Our Lord was in the throes of giving the fullness of His plan to Sister Mary of St Peter, she was assailed by doubt. She begged of Him, "Oh, my God, if I only were sure that it is really You Who speaks to me..." Our Lord swiftly put her right, but warned, "If you should fail in simplicity and place obstacles to My plans, you shall be held responsible for the salvation of souls." To encourage her He promised, "On the other hand, if you are faithful, your crown will be enriched."

In order for the Work of Reparation to be fully realized, Our Lord  requested of Sr Mary that she work with her superiors to make known His desire for a Confraternity of Reparation. He explained the devastating reasons why this Confraternity needed to be founded urgently, "The crimes that fill up the cup of wickedness are blasphemies against God's Holy Name and the profanation of Sundays." Our Lord revealed that she was living in a uniquely wicked time in history because, "Never before have these crimes reached such a peak."

Sr Mary said that Our Lord had made her feel great terror when He made known His anger towards France. She described Him as "incensed with anger" because of "all the blasphemies of which the people are guilty". Here she was, a French nun being shown Our Lord's great displeasure with the French. Yet she mustered the courage to ask Our Lord if He would pardon France, and He answered her solemnly, "Yes, I will grant it pardon once more, but mark my word, once! And since this crime of blasphemy extends over the whole nation, and since it is public, I demand that Reparation be extended to all the cities of the nation, and that it be public."

The Confraternity of Reparation which Our Lord wished to see established was to have a twofold mission, the first being the reparation for blasphemy and the second being reparation for the profanation of Sunday: because Sr Mary was instructed that "the two principle sins" which were inciting the anger of God were taking His Holy Name in vain and not keeping holy the Sabbath. The rules of the Confraternity would oblige the members not to do any work on Sunday and also to resist all unnecessary servile work on the holy days of the Lord, and to do all in their power to ensure others do the same. Jesus stipulated that St Michael, St Martin and St Louis be the patrons of the Confraternity, and that every member say daily one Our Father, one Hail Mary and one Glory be, and offer the Golden Arrow. Yet on Sundays and feast days all the Prayers of Reparation were to be offered, to be done as Sr Mary explained, "in order to make fitting reparation for the crimes committed against God's Majesty on these days of the Lord in order to obtain mercy for the guilty."

Sr Mary was afforded a vision of this Confraternity as an army of courageous soldiers who were united to Jesus as their Commander, so that they may defend the glory of God the Father. Thus Our Lord stated that all the enrolled members of the Confraternity could call themselves, "The Defenders of the Holy Name of God." Our Lord told Sr Mary that it was His desire that every member wear a cross, which on one side had the engraved words, "Blessed be the Name of God", and on the other side had, "Begone, Satan!"  A promise from Our Lord given all those who wear this cross was a special resourcefulness in conquering the demon of blasphemy. And Our Lord added that every time someone hears a curse, he should repeat, "Blessed be the Name of God" and "Begone, Satan!" and thus he will triumph over the evil one and give glory to God.

When Our Lord had given Sr Mary all the instructions as to how the Confraternity of Reparation was to be founded, He told her that the demon would do everything to pulverize and destroy the Work of Reparation, which is in itself a gift from the Sacred Heart. This, however, rather than frightening Sr Mary emboldened her and she exclaimed that she wished to be martyred for the Confraternity, "I would willingly shed the last drop of my blood for such a holy association."

Before Sr Mary was given the revelations concerning the dire state of France awash with foul curses, that the two sins which filled the cup of wickedness were blasphemy and the profanation of Sunday and that Our Lord asked for fitting reparation to be made in the founding of the Confraternity of Reparation, she had already received the Golden Arrow and the Chaplet of Reparation.  When Our Lord had given her the foundation of the Work in the form of Prayers of Reparation, only then did He give her the insights as to how and why the Confraternity was to be established.
