THE ANGELS: THE HIGHEST CORRUPTED TO THE LOWEST
This week there was a wonderful webinar to mark the launch of The Truth about Hell, which was engrossing but most stunningly of all it was engaging. As someone who finds treatise on Hell to be mental penance, I found myself getting more educated while not wanting to turn it off. My attention was grabbed in particular by the discussion of the vision given St Frances of Rome. She was a noblewoman who had wanted to be hidden in a cloister. But her father made her marry reluctantly at age 12. She fainted 3 times at her own wedding. In the decades that followed her interior life was better than any blockbuster movie. She saw the faithful angels and her glowing Guardian Angel as well as the damned angels, and she was given spectacular visions of Purgatory, but also of Hell.
Frances saw that the angels who were highest before the fall and closest to the Lord were then sent to the places of Hell which are lowest and furthest from the Lord after they fell. Angels from such exalted choirs as the Seraphim and Cherubim were cast into a place in perdition that was the exact opposite of the heavenly realm they had once held.

Hi Mary,
ReplyDeletePraised be Jesus and Mary,
Like you, I rather disliked the subject, but it really hit home. Even though the video is long, it is very valuable. Of particular note to me was the comment of St. Theresa of Avila that Mental Prayer was very important and without it, one could easily be lost. I agree, but it is a gift and one needs to seek it, ask for it, and then practice it.
Kindest regards from a Secular Order Discalced Carmelite (Isolated Status). Ed.
Dear Ed, I totally agree with you - this webinar glistens with so many golden truths - and the comment of St. Teresa of Avila has me wanting to make use of all those spare moments for mental prayer such as when queueing to pay for groceries. I believe you were in touch some time ago with a note you sent regarding this post - https://thepathlesstaken7.blogspot.com/2020/11/how-you-may-escape-hell-and-be-freed.html
DeleteGreat that you are a Secular Carmelite. For 10 years I was a parishioner of the Carmel on High Street Kensington, London, founded by Fr. Hermann Cohen to whom I am especially devoted.
May there be more webinars like the above! In Teresa of Avila and Hermann Cohen, Mary
Well, I broke down and ordered the book. I note it's also available on Kindle which I use a lot. Will you be publishing your book on Kindle? I can't wait to get a copy. I'm just north of you in San Luis Obispo County, often attend St. Anne's. And no, this was my first post. I have a Google ID but avoid using it wherever possible... Ed.
DeleteTruly that made my week, I'm delighted you bought Padre Pio and You. God bless and reward you, Ed. Yes, I am positive it will be available on Kindle. This is all new to me still, and I have lots to learn. I need to tell myself that I'm not dreaming regularly. And you share this great state of California. I hope to visit St. Anne's someday, but it might be a long way off. Ah, well, in the fullness of time. In Padre Pio, Mary
