ARE YOU A DISCIPLE OF PADRE PIO?

You may find yourself asking after listening to Dr Tom Curran's two-part interview with yours truly.  Here is Part 1, and here's Part 2.  You may well see yourself in the role of disciple.

Dr Tom is very smart, and he did me the distinct privilege of studying my book in exhaustive detail and he wanted to ascertain if I am indeed a disciple. I demurred somewhat, and Dr Tom supplied an assessment as to why he thinks I am.  I think time will tell.

In Padre Pio and You I scrutinize certain disciples of Padre Pio, the length of time they spent in the Padre's service and the unique tasks given them which were mainly to bring other spiritual sons and daughters into the fold, as well as caring for their siblings-in-spirit and safeguarding Pio's mission.

If you feel you are one, feel free to comment and tell me why. You may even feel like comparing yourself to some of the disciples which were profiled in Padre Pio and You I am trying to draw up a quiz and guidelines as to how one can discern. Feel free to ask questions that may inform my questionnaire.

  1. For the past 30 years i have felt drawn to Padre Pio-cannot stop reading about him, praying for his intersession -thru Mary, to Jesus. When i slip more into the world, e.g. overspend on frivolous things, i lose my connection to Padre Pio!

Despite my shortcomings, Padre Pio has been faithful -through his intersession i have been bestowed so many favors-personally and professionally! I feel compelled to tell you Mary, that i got married age 38 and was still able to have three children-three years apart! On my 37th (may) birthday my dad called to find me crying —no date/boyfriend in sight! He said -“your tears are premature” —if by the time you are 45 and still don’t have a date —i will cry with you, we shall cry together!” Sure enough, that Nov i met my husband —got married following October! Do not give up Mary, and other soon to be wives!

    1. Thank you, Deb, for your wonderful comment which will give the gift of hope to many. If it is the Lord's will that I remain childless, then so be it, and I will be joyful. A dynamic disciple was Mary Pyle and she never bore biological children. But others like Donal Enright had five.
