WHEN THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS AND PADRE PIO'S HEART BECAME THE SAME HEART

When I was writing my book on Padre Pio (which is nearly ready for publication) I discovered that the Saint with whom Padre Pio had a great deal in common was St Margaret Mary. St Margaret Mary was afforded ecstatic visions of Jesus and His Sacred Heart, and Our Lord sent an atom of His Heart into Margaret Mary's heart, elevating her human heart to one that had the tiniest piece of the Divine. In Pio's case, the single greatest event in his mystical life happened when a month before his 25th birthday, Our Lord took Pio's physical heart and fused it with His Sacred Heart until they were one Heart, beating as one and entirely in sync.

When you pray to the Sacred Heart, and ask for a grace through the intercession of Padre Pio, you are praying to the Heart that took Pio's heart into His, and made them the same Heart. Where the Sacred Heart is, there is the Heart that housed Pio's heart. When you and I venerate Padre Pio's incorrupt heart, we venerate the heart that became part of the Divine Heart of Christ. Recently, Church Militant in Detroit held a vote as to which new statue should be in their newly refurbished chapel, and their viewers (which include me and my friends) voted for Padre Pio. As Michael Voris related in this video the statue of Padre Pio will join the statue of the Sacred Heart. Coincidence? I think not. It is more the case that Our Lord moved the hearts of the voters to vote for Pio, so that veneration to His Sacred Heart may happen alongside devotion to the stigmatist whose heart became one with His Heart.

I am not in touch with Michael Voris, but I hope the team at Church Militant will discover this, I think it is a harbinger that their new chapel could become the site of mass conversions and healings. As readers of this blog know, Pio wanted all Americans as his spiritual sons and daughters, and he obtained the grace from Our Lord that any American who seeks his spiritual fatherhood may have it. There is also the prophecy which holds that a Franciscan will lead one third of the world to Christ. When he was asked about this, Pio was disappointed, and said he was dissatisfied with a third, but he didn't deny the prophecy concerned him. Everyone who hears this, may ask themselves, are they part of the third? Are you one of the third?  Certainly, if at least one in three people will be brought to Faith through Padre Pio, then the new Pio statue has the potential to draw multitudes. As it was in Pio's lifetime and a huge new church had to be built in San Giovanni to accommodate the pilgrims coming to him, so too, may it be that Church Militant may know need even more expansion now that they have both the Sacred Heart and Pio. As I look at the chapel, I wonder are they ready for the thundering hordes...

Padre Pio recorded his mystical and physical union with the Sacred Heart in a letter written April, 1912 to his spiritual directors, which may be found in Padre Pio Letters Volume 1.
