WHEN YOU BEHOLD ST ANTHONY'S FACE IN A BUCKET, PLEASE PRAY IN REPARATION

Summer 2020 in California is the summer of statue slaughter. Most particularly the destruction of statues of Franciscan Saints, such as St Junipero, and even most gentle St Anthony. The pics below of a statue of St Anthony that was wickedly vandalized were taken in a down-at-heel area of Los Angeles where the once lovely statue of St Anthony used to be a welcome relief of beauty in an otherwise industrial and shabby part of town.

So common is the sight of statues that have been attacked by axes that this episode of wanton wreckage did not get covered in the media. It is thought that the vandals mistook Anthony for Junipero Serra; they were both Franciscans and their habits were the same. Mercifully, they left the Infant Jesus intact.

Perhaps if I may invite you to offer your daily Rosary in honor of St Anthony and in reparation for the malevolence that inspired this misdeed.
