You've given me a lot to think about. To be frank, it had not been my intention to please those who blame the 'baby-boomer' generation for the problems in the Church. It was my intention to contextualise the era in which Padre Pio lived his last days.

One question; if there was not a growing concept that abortion/contraception/abortifacient contraception was more acceptable - why did Paul VI write Humanae Vitae at the time he did to address the matter that they were wrong for reasons such as that they lead to the on-going degradation of women and that it would be bad for the institution of marriages, not to mention Paul VI's lesser-known warning about how governments would use abortion/contraception to control its people?

Then sentence you feel should never have been written could apply to this generation too. Just recently I gave a lady uncertain about the Church's teachings Padre Pio's letter to Paul VI on Humanae Vitae and she said 'it changed my life...it cleared up all my doubts to know that Padre Pio spoke so much in favour of Humanae Vitae.'

God bless always,

MMary O'Reganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06111088825250138537noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8857216796720971555.post-18974084118321145042011-10-29T01:03:37.808-07:002011-10-29T01:03:37.808-07:00"a generation of Catholics in the 60s were as..."a generation of Catholics in the 60s were asking if abortion was becoming more acceptable. There was a creeping idea that ‘it’s a matter of conscience’."

For me, this sentence should not have been written. There is a growing trend on blogger, to imagine that everything bad that has happened to the Church, has been caused by a generation of 'baby boomers', 'hippies', and will be sorted with Fr Z's 'biological solution'. No-one ever considers that Fr Z comes from German stock, what are his own world war two memories? Anyone who was an adult or even a child in the sixties, remembered the two preceding world wars. That was what the generation was trying to avoid, that is why wehad the nuclear disamament campaigns, Uk was bombed for a thousand nights exactly over the period of the second world war. Loads of folks had nervous breakdowns(as we used to call them) but they carried on. No adult came to the sixties with an attitude of taking peace or profit for granted. Maybe, apart from the rich? Maybe the rich do well whatever happens. Please speak to the people you are blaming for the state of the church. Don't write what's pleasing. Write what is true.

God bless you and may Our Lady guide your words.

You are a good and honest reporter, but please, occasionally, listen to the crowd (liberals) as well as the choir.mehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06962374096401238994noreply@blogger.com
